Described as “wild and elegant”, Kara LaFleur has established herself as a graceful feather fan dancer and accomplished performer in music and dance.
With ballet classes at age 4, she soon began performing as a child. This early experience was further bolstered when she began studying music and was performing professionally in a string quartet by the time she was a teenager. Hailing from Miami, Florida, her strict classical training was tempered by the sexiness of dancing Salsa at local nightclubs and parties.
Kara was introduced to Burlesque by images of the great Sally Rand when just a child. She fell in love with the gracefulness and freedom of the iconic dancer covered by nothing but her feathers. Then, when she was little more than 10, Kara had the divine experience of accompanying her favorite aunt backstage at local drag shows in Key West and Hollywood, FL, where little Kara got to see the Ladies work their Magic. This is when she knew she had to become a performer herself!
Gifted teachers like Miami City Ballet dancer Christina Torres, Pyrrha Sutra of Scandalesque, and Lucy Morals of VaVaVoom have given Kara her burlesque foundation. She will never forget how she has benefited from the extensive knowledge these talented performers had to share.
Kara has performed on stages throughout Florida, Arizona, in New York City, New York, and San Francisco, California.
